以色列艺术家,1929年出生于罗马尼亚,享年81岁。他是画家、制图员和版画家,后来成为了以色列最重要的当代艺术家之一。早年以抽象艺术享誉画坛。1965年,在他取得巨大成功之时却毅然放弃了这一切,重头再来。他开始将视线仅仅指向可见世界,画风走向写实。并以写生作为自己终身奉行的创作准则,由此而真正树立了其个人的艺术面貌。

13岁时,阿利卡被关进了纳粹的集中营,后来他有幸被解救,并于1944年进入以色列的耶路撒冷工艺美术学校接受包豪斯式的现代美术教育,开始用素描描绘那里的残酷生活和犹太人的不幸命运。
20岁时,阿利卡到达向往已久的巴黎,战后流行于西方的抽象表现主义风格对他产生了很大的影响。

现实即是一种幻觉,因为它不再延续,这种信念与他后来的艺术精神有极为契合之处,他所关心的是迅速抓住转瞬即逝的真实。
1950年阿利卡来到意大利,对那里湿壁画的研究,使他领悟和获得了局部作画和一气呵成以及留白的意义和技巧。
回到巴黎,阿利卡遇到了在精神上一直给予他有力支持的以色列作家贝克特。
这段时间,他画的都是抽象画,他的作品和标题运用了大量的黑色,完全现代和真正前卫的艺术内容,这得益于贝克特。

1965年,阿利卡在卢浮宫看卡拉瓦乔画展时,一种深刻的危机感油然而生,他意识到“我所做的一切都是从绘画到绘画,没有将绘画行为与观看事实联系起来。”
这个画展给他的印象是“我们的文化是风格化的,正如卡拉瓦乔开始在那里工作的罗马一样。”他觉得他所信仰的东西与他在抽象画中所追求的清晰性之间失去了平衡,后者凌驾前者而破坏了它们之间的张力。
既然所画的一切都可以读解成某物,回溯到现实的世界,为何不直接去画现实事物呢?这对他“的确是一个可怕的打击。”于是阿利卡迅速从抽象画转向了写实艺术。

他的作品内容全部来自日常生活,他相信任何一件微小的事情都可能具有意义。他认为开始作画就要直接进入状态,就像“听到电话铃,要立即作出反应”,别无选择地服从这种冲动,还要运用正在尝试的新语言和新形式。
一幅画必须一次完成,绝不允许拖到第二天,太长的时间会使手和眼的母题丧失殆尽。由于他有过抽象绘画创作的经历,他的具象绘画便不再像古典绘画那样再现客观世界,而是按照自己的感受方式来表达。
阿利卡作画时似乎没有一个构思的过程,他的感觉总是从一个特定的点开始向外扩散,从一只眼睛、或者一个鼻孔,然后像波浪一样,从这个点漫向四周的海滩。
