An emergency drill on water traffic safety was held at the Shichahai scenic spot in Beijing Thursday.

The drill aims to improve the water transport and tour boat industry’s capacity of preventing, reducing and responding to disasters, combat and guard against major safety accidents, and test tour boats’ ability to deal with emergencies in the Shichahai waters.

“Safety is the top priority in the tour boat operation work in the Schichahai waters throughout the year. The drill today was conducted based on the characteristics of the local waters, which can practically enhance the emergency response, disposal and coordination capabilities in the daily work,” said the general director of the drill.

The drill content included the emergency handling in a sudden bad weather, the firefighting disposal on tour boats and the emergency rescue of persons in open waters.
