LeBron James was ‘adamant’ with Cavaliers GM: Don’t trade Kyrie Irving

It really wasn't a joke of a trade. Obviously Boston won in hindsight, but it was a disgruntled star for someone who had just finished 5th in MVP voting and what was expected to be a high lottery pick. That's not bad

Edit: Crowder was coming off a great season as well and was included in the package.

I mean 2016-2017 IT was a top five mvp candidate,especially during the playoffs so when the trade happened it didn’t seem like a huge loss,not including a first round and a three an d shooter.

In all seriousness though it’s weird how people look at this badly through Gilbert’s eyes and I can’t fucking stand the guy. The star player wanted out with 2 years left on his contract.

The return was IT (who was of course was injured but was coming off his best season), Jae Crowder (who everyone expected to fit well next to LeBron), Ante Zizic (a raw but good prospect) and a unprotected BKN pick that was #1 a few months before.

骑士收到的回报是小托马斯（当然啦，他那时还有伤，不过同样也刚打完个人的巅峰赛季），杰-克劳德（当时每个人都期待他完美适配詹姆斯），安特-日日奇（还很糙，但是未来可期），还有一个不受保护的篮网签，在交易发生几个月之前还是状元签呢。

Whether Kyrie stayed or not there’s a huge chance LeBron walks anyway and now a guy who publicly wants out only has a year left versus 2 years left on that contract.

无论欧文留下或离开，詹姆斯都有很大可能会走人。如果骑士强留欧文一年，那欧文就不光是想走了，而且身上的合同年限也会从两年降为一年。

As much as I would love to come at Dan Gilbert, this situation had to end like this. Unless LeBron told him behind the scenes that he was willing to sign a long term deal if they kept Kyrie for his last two years left on his contract, I don’t see why Gilbert wouldn’t make this deal.

虽然我很想把丹-吉尔伯特喷个一通，但当时的局面只能这么收尾。除非詹姆斯在私底下告诉吉尔伯特说，如果骑士愿意留下欧文，逼他履行合同的最后两年，那自己愿意和球队签一份长约，否则我想不通吉尔伯特不做这笔交易的理由。
