以色列藝術家,1929年出生於羅馬尼亞,享年81歲。他是畫家、製圖員和版畫家,後來成爲了以色列最重要的當代藝術家之一。早年以抽象藝術享譽畫壇。1965年,在他取得巨大成功之時卻毅然放棄了這一切,重頭再來。他開始將視線僅僅指向可見世界,畫風走向寫實。並以寫生作爲自己終身奉行的創作準則,由此而真正樹立了其個人的藝術面貌。

13歲時,阿利卡被關進了納粹的集中營,後來他有幸被解救,並於1944年進入以色列的耶路撒冷工藝美術學校接受包豪斯式的現代美術教育,開始用素描描繪那裏的殘酷生活和猶太人的不幸命運。
20歲時,阿利卡到達嚮往已久的巴黎,戰後流行於西方的抽象表現主義風格對他產生了很大的影響。

現實即是一種幻覺,因爲它不再延續,這種信念與他後來的藝術精神有極爲契合之處,他所關心的是迅速抓住轉瞬即逝的真實。
1950年阿利卡來到意大利,對那裏溼壁畫的研究,使他領悟和獲得了局部作畫和一氣呵成以及留白的意義和技巧。
回到巴黎,阿利卡遇到了在精神上一直給予他有力支持的以色列作家貝克特。
這段時間,他畫的都是抽象畫,他的作品和標題運用了大量的黑色,完全現代和真正前衛的藝術內容,這得益於貝克特。

1965年,阿利卡在盧浮宮看卡拉瓦喬畫展時,一種深刻的危機感油然而生,他意識到“我所做的一切都是從繪畫到繪畫,沒有將繪畫行爲與觀看事實聯繫起來。”
這個畫展給他的印象是“我們的文化是風格化的,正如卡拉瓦喬開始在那裏工作的羅馬一樣。”他覺得他所信仰的東西與他在抽象畫中所追求的清晰性之間失去了平衡,後者凌駕前者而破壞了它們之間的張力。
既然所畫的一切都可以讀解成某物,回溯到現實的世界,爲何不直接去畫現實事物呢?這對他“的確是一個可怕的打擊。”於是阿利卡迅速從抽象畫轉向了寫實藝術。

他的作品內容全部來自日常生活,他相信任何一件微小的事情都可能具有意義。他認爲開始作畫就要直接進入狀態,就像“聽到電話鈴,要立即作出反應”,別無選擇地服從這種衝動,還要運用正在嘗試的新語言和新形式。
一幅畫必須一次完成,絕不允許拖到第二天,太長的時間會使手和眼的母題喪失殆盡。由於他有過抽象繪畫創作的經歷,他的具象繪畫便不再像古典繪畫那樣再現客觀世界,而是按照自己的感受方式來表達。
阿利卡作畫時似乎沒有一個構思的過程,他的感覺總是從一個特定的點開始向外擴散,從一隻眼睛、或者一個鼻孔,然後像波浪一樣,從這個點漫向四周的海灘。

1970年11月,阿利卡的版畫在巴黎與奧登伯格、勞申伯格和約翰斯的聯展確立了他寫實畫家的地位和身份。
