A French film-like, experimental dance theater about love, this duet tells the story of a couple having a relationship without words, struggling with silence and lack of communication. Dense and almost palpable, the feeling of suffering sweeps into the space. But there are tender gestures, a memory fled, a ray of sunshine breaking into the claustrophobia, with a current of fresh air that sweeps away the pain of loneliness. The company was created by 2010 by Sara Mangano and Pierre-Yves Massip to explore the art of mime and its extended forms of expression. Tickets start at 120rmb.Address: 1650 Hongqiao Lu, near Shuicheng Lu

Daily until Jun 12 @ island6 Arts Center: Who Needs Men Anyway?

island6’s spring exhibition “Who Needs Men Anyway?” asks us hard, throbbing questions through art. The version of Shanghai depicted in this show is dominated by female characters that are capable of anything... With 95% of Chinese artists being men, where is the representation for women (and don’t say in the bedroom)? When living in a place where things are so easy to copy, why do we still biologically reproduce? And where are all the female cab drivers? Most importantly, how is this connected? Address: 2/F, Bldg 6, 50 Moganshan Lu, near Changhua Lu
