1.protect

2.defend

3.guard

這也是一個普通用詞，但是這個與前面兩個又點點的不同，guard 更多的是一個警戒的保護，可以指保護、守衛以防止外敵的入侵而進行的保護，也可以指看守、控制以防止內部人員外逃而進行的保護，總的就是保持警惕以防可能的攻擊或傷害。

這盾牌保護他免受敵人的打擊。

5.safeguard

這個詞是比較出名的，大家應該有所瞭解吧，‘舒膚佳’，但是其本意也是保護的意思，且語氣還是比較強的，指使用某種方法避開危險或進攻以保證安全,尤指在僅存潛在性危險的情況下使用保護性措施或某種手段作爲防禦工具以防危險或傷害。

例如：

We must safeguard our national interests.

我們必須保衛國家的利益。

If we have to, we are prepared to go further and be tougher than our international partners to safeguard our economy.

如果有必要，我們準備更進一步，採取比我們的國際夥伴更嚴格的措施來保衛我們的經濟。

6.shelter

shelter 本身也是有遮蔽物、庇護物的意思，所以可以指給某人或某物提供庇護處，所以通常指尋找安全地方躲避風雨或使人免遭危害，但是也指爲被追蹤者提供庇護的處所或逃跑的途徑。

例如：

These plants must be sheltered from direct sunlight.

這種植物必須遮起來，免受陽光直射。

7.harbour
