出發前一天，莫迪接受了媒體採訪。談到他和普京的關係時，莫迪金句頻出，高調秀恩愛，還用了“來電”（special chemistry）一詞形容他倆的關係。

The two men have known each other since 2001， and Modi pointed out in an interview with Russian state media ahead of the summit that he and Putin enjoy a special relationship。

（莫迪和普京）兩人自2001年開始相識，莫迪在峯會前接受俄羅斯官媒採訪時指出，他和普京有着特殊的關係。

“Our relationship has special chemistry， special ease，” Modi told the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper。 “With each meeting with President Putin， we get closer and our relationship grows。”

“我們的關係是‘很來電’的那種，特別輕鬆，”莫迪對《俄羅斯報》說道。“每次與普京總統會面，我們都變得更加親密，關係更緊密。”

Modi pointed out that mutual ties also extend to nature， as every year “Siberian cranes migrate to my home state Gujarat”。 And the Indian leader said he planned to discuss tiger conservation with Putin， a lover of big cats。

莫迪指出，他倆的相互關係還延伸到了大自然，因爲每年“西伯利亞鶴都會遷徙到他的家鄉古吉拉特邦”。這位印度領導人說，他計劃與普京討論老虎保護的問題。普京很喜歡大型貓科動物。

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that a passion for protecting tigers is among many things he and Russian President Vladimir Putin have in common。

Modi said that he and Putin are kindred spirits of sorts， given their love of the outdoors and nature。 “I know that he is a physically very developed person， he leads an active lifestyle， keeps himself in shape。 I love it，” he told reporters on Tuesday， right before heading off for a trip to Russia。

莫迪說，他和普京志趣相投，因爲他們都熱愛戶外和大自然。“我知道他是一個體格強健的人，他擁有積極的生活方式，保持自己的體型。我很喜歡，”他週二在啓程前往俄羅斯之前對記者說。

“He is also interested in the environment， wildlife， the underwater world， especially interested in the problem of conservation of tigers and so on。 I’m the same by nature。 Therefore， it is natural that many things connect us。”

“他對環境、野生動物、水下世界也很感興趣，尤其對保護老虎等問題感興趣。我的本性也是如此。因此，自然地，很多事情把我們聯繫在了一起。”

The bond reflects traditionally friendly relations between Russia and India， Modi said， adding that “we do not have a common border， but our souls are similar。”

由於同西方關係緊張，俄羅斯自2015年以來，每年都會在太平洋沿岸港口城市符拉迪沃斯託克舉辦東方經濟論壇，來加強與亞洲的關係。

週三開幕式當天，普京與莫迪會面的時間最長。

Russia and India are part of the BRICS group of major emerging economies -- alongside Brazil， China and South Africa -- and Kremlin foreign policy aide Yury Ushakov said “increasing mutual investments” and “energy cooperation” would be high on the agenda。

同巴西、中國和南非一樣，俄羅斯和印度也是新興經濟體組織“金磚國家”的成員。克里姆林宮外交政策助理尤里·烏沙科夫表示，“增加相互投資”和“能源合作”將是東方經濟論壇的重要議程。

Trade between the two countries amounted to approximately $11 billion in 2018。

2018年，俄羅斯和印度兩國間的貿易額約爲110億美元。

Moscow and Delhi are also looking at “opportunities to explore hydrocarbons on the continental shelf in the Arctic and the Russian Far East” together， Ushakov said。

烏沙科夫說，莫斯科和德里還在共同尋找“在北極大陸架和俄羅斯遠東地區勘探碳氫化合物的機會”。
