Chief Executive Carrie Lam of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region speaks at a press conference on the recent protests in HK. On Monday's news conference, the officials of the HKSAR strongly opposed any form of student strike and violent protests, which would harm the learning environment of the city's youth. 香港特首林鄭月娥週二早上約九點五十於金鐘政府總部特首辦舉行記者會。開場白談及開學和她與教育界的溝通，確保各學校正常開學，並表示由於持續不斷的風波，香港經濟正面臨嚴峻挑戰。

Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), said she has never submitted any resignation to the central government since the beginning, and she is confident to lead the city out of the crisis.

在回答關於辭職傳聞的問題時，林鄭表示，她有留意到上週的私人會議的交流被公開了，她表示非常失望，這種私人會議不可以被引述的。

“I noticed the conversation in a private party has been released public. I think it's very inappropriate. I am very disappointed,” she said, in response to an audio recording of remarks that Lam reported by Reuters.

“不是每一個字都有含義，這些話的目的就是一個私底下的交流。因爲那段講話，並不是一段預計會被公開的講話，所以我的用詞並無特意暗含的信息。”

“I said on several occasions that throughout the period, I have never submitted resignation to the central government. The choice of not resigning is my own choice. I told myself and my team should stay on. It is not an easy path but I'd rather stay with the people of Hong Kong,” she said.

“關於辭職問題，我的答案早就給出了，從開始到現在，我從未向中央提出請辭。”

Carrie Lam believes that she coud lead #HongKong out of crisis. “The reason is that I have the confidence to lead the team to help Hong Kong out of the difficulties. I can't foresee when we will get out of the difficulties”

“我有信心帶領我的團隊幫香港走出這個困局。所以並不存在我想辭職結果辭不了這種矛盾。我作爲香港的行政長官，經歷了一些心路歷程，個人情緒有很大的波動，但最終的決定是爲香港市民考慮，找到一個共同的方向和目標。我和我的團隊非常努力在創造這個目標，但需要大家的合作。”

“我們共同的首要的目標是把暴力停下來，讓香港社會早日恢復平靜。香港是一個法治的社會，所以我們必須要用法治的手段，包括警隊、律政司。”

The environment in Hong Kong is quite opposite at present. The best way to deal with it is through communication and dialogue with people from different social status and political stances. [I will] start with one or two closed-door events, and then go into the community to have a dialogue with Hong Kong residents: Lam

“現在香港的環境比較對立，最好的應對的手段就是溝通、對話，和各個階層、政治立場不同的人去對話。將來我會和我的團隊走進基層和香港市民溝通。會先從一兩場閉門的開始，以及走進社區，和香港市民對話。”
