摘要：郎世寧意大利人，原名朱塞佩·伽斯底裏奧內，生於意大利米蘭，清康熙帝五十四年(1715)作爲天主教耶穌會的修道士來中國傳教，隨即入宮進入如意館，爲清代宮廷十大畫家之一，曾參加圓明園西洋樓的設計工作，歷經康、雍、乾三朝，在中國從事繪畫50多年，並參加了圓明園西洋樓的設計工作，極大地影響了康熙之後的清代宮廷繪畫和審美趣味。郎世寧來到中國後仔細研習了中國畫的繪畫技巧，他畫的中國畫具有堅實的寫實功力，流暢地道的墨線，一絲不苟的層層暈染，外加無法效仿的顏色運用，中西合璧，煥然一新。

值得一提的是郎世寧在清朝擔任宮廷畫師長達50餘年之久，但是其傳世作品並不算多，據目前行情來看，大多郎世寧作品被收錄在國內外著名大博物館收藏，流入民間的更是寥寥無幾。近些年來，在拍賣市場上，郎世寧的作品越來越成爲重中之重的拍品。2008年在北京舉行的秋季拍賣會上，一件清代乾隆年間郎世寧繪皇帝起居生活《雍正十二月圓明園行樂圖》現身拍賣行，並被以1.44億元的高價拍下，震撼全場。
