Ivan Aivazovsky 是一位俄羅斯浪漫主義畫家，生於1817年7月29日死於1900年。他是公認的歷史上最偉大的海景畫家之一。在他就讀於聖彼得堡的皇家藝術學院期間他曾遊歷歐洲並在意大利短期居住。隨後他回到俄羅斯，並被任命爲海軍隨軍畫師。因爲他和俄羅斯精英階層的關係很好可以經常觀看軍事演習並進行藝術採風。而且他的藝術天賦也被國家看重並給予資助本人也很受尊重。
