孔子說：“我十五歲，有志於學問；三十歲，［懂禮儀，］說話做事都有把握；四十歲，［掌握了各種知識，］不致迷惑；五十歲，得知天命；六十歲，一聽別人言語，便可以分別真假，判明是非；到了七十歲，便隨心所欲，任何念頭不越出規矩。”

“At sixty, my ear was an obedient organ for the reception of truth.

“At seventy, I could follow what my heart desired, without transgressing what was right.”
