drop

【源】

直接源自古英语的dropa，意为“球形小液珠（a small, spherical mass of liquid）”。

【音】

[drɒp]

【义】

paint既可以用作动词，也可以用作名词。

用作动词，表示“（使）落下”，如：

The apple blossoms are beginning to drop. 苹果树上的花开始落了。 She dropped the teapot. 她把茶壶弄掉了。

用作名词，表示“滴；少量”，如：

Many drops make a shower.雨滴一多就形成阵雨。Add a drop of salt to the soup.汤内加点盐。

【用】

drop常见的短语用法有：

1）drop across sb 偶遇某人

I dropped across Little Tom yesterday. 昨天我偶然遇见小汤姆。

2）drop out 退出

They dropped out of the team. 他们退出了球队。

三、相关拓展

do with

该短语表示“处理；对付”，相当于deal with。如：

I have a huge pile of letters to do with. 我有一大堆信件要处理。
