高足盘最早见于隋代，古时候有人把它叫做浅盘圈足豆。隋代高足盘盘心平坦、圈足大而高。盘壁比较直也比较浅，盘心多有团形小印花及阴刻圈纹，一般多为青瓷制品。到了清代中晚期，高足盘这类瓷器突然多起来，但是清代高足盘的器型与隋代却大不相同，盘壁多为弧形，盘沿多为花口，高足成喇叭状柱足，足径较小。品种则多以为青花、粉彩为主。虽然同为高足盘，隋代与清代高足盘在造型风格上迥然不同，学术界通常认为清代高足盘是由明代的高足杯和高足碗演变而来，似乎与隋代高足盘没有渊源关系。
